Our story
La Palmeraie Awakening is the flagship gala retreat of AZAHAR Foundation, a non-profit founded by Yogeswari to foster peace and opportunity through yoga, meditation, and the arts.
For nearly two decades, AZAHAR has worked in Cambodia and Rwanda, empowering youth and women in post-conflict communities with certified training in yoga, the arts, and leadership. What begins as healing becomes a pathway to income, dignity, and lasting transformation.
This retreat carries that mission forward. In the serene setting of the La Palmeraie Polo Club in Morocco, senior Jivamukti teachers Yogeswari and Jutta guide seven days of practice, culture, and connection. Every moment of renewal here ripples outward, funding programs that uplift communities and create a culture of peace.
Every presence here helps sustain AZAHAR Foundation’s peacebuilding programs in Cambodia, Rwanda, and Ukraine.

Set against rolling golden dunes, our yoga chala on the beach offers a serene space to move, breathe, and reconnect. Within the airy yurt, practice unfolds in harmony with the vast stillness of the desert and the rhythm of the ocean. Weather permitting, some sessions take place directly on the sand, deepening the connection to nature and creating an experience that is both grounding and unforgettable.
